Daily Expectations:
Safety First:
Students are asked to be mindful of others when moving about the classroom on a daily basis and to follow all safety rules that are outlined in the Laboratory Safety Contact when completing an activity or an experiment.
Absences & Make-Up Work:
If a student is absent from class any worksheets, handouts, etc. is their responsibility to retrieve and copy any notes that may have been given while they were out. The student has an equivalent number of days to make up missed assignments, quizzes, tests, etc. Please refer to the school’s Attendance Policy and Make-up Work policy in the Student Handbook.
Grading:
*All percentages are approximate because I use a total points system.
Homework: 10%
Homework is checked in class on the day it is due with the exception of electronic assignments. Any assignment that is turned in through Edmodo must be turned in by midnight on the due date. No late homework is accepted unless the student was absent or has made other arrangements with the teacher.
Labs & Projects: 30%
Notebooks: 5%
Classwork: 25%
Assessments: 30%
Small Assessments - 6 – 10 per marking period ~ Larger Assessments – 1 or 2 per marking period
Extra Help:
I am available after school for extra help several days during the week. Please check with me before staying after.
- 3 ring binder with 2 page dividers and some loose leaf paper
- Pencils/Pens
- Colored Pencils - to keep at home for when needed
- Seahawks Homework Folder - provided on the first day of school
- Agenda Book - provided on the first day of school
Daily Expectations:
- Come to class prepared – you cannot leave to get things out of your locker
- Be seated and quiet by the time the bell rings
- If there is homework due please have it out on your desk and ready
- Raise your hand and wait to be called on – please do not call out
- Be respectful to everyone in the room
- Be a participant – it’s more fun that way
- Students may use the lav at any time as long I am not addressing the entire class.

The Digital CLassroom
Blended Learning:
I use a blended learning model of instruction with my classes. Blended learning combines traditional face to face instruction with guided and independent digital learning. Southern offers teachers the ability to use BYOD- Bring Your Own Device in the classroom as well as computer labs and mobile device carts for use in the classroom. We will take full advantage of these offerings to delve into our course of study.
